D.J. began his SRO career in a program in its infant stage. Upon receiving training from the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), he immediately began his persistent efforts in keeping schools safe. After working over 7 years in the middle school and elementary school environment, D.J. became the SRO at the largest high school in Indiana, one of the largest in the country. With over 5,000 students and a building of over 1 million Sq. Ft., he focused on building positive relationships with students. Many of which he keeps in contact with or hears from for a hello or guidance. In 2012, D.J. was appointed to the NASRO Board of Directors as a Regional Director covering 5 States. In 2016, the membership elected him as 2 nd Vice President, and he progressed to the Board President where he served in that capacity from 2020 to 2022. Since 2012, D.J. has served as an Instructor for NASRO where he has taught many SROs and assisted in developing curriculum for NASRO.
