D.J. Schoeff

Safety Consultant

After a career in private industry where D.J. taught classes across the U.S. and Canada, he decided a career in public service was his strong desire. As a 3rd generation police officer, he now has more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement rising to the rank of Deputy Chief. This includes 14 years of school safety work as a SRO, SRO Supervisor, and serving on both the State and National level.

He is a Charter Board Member of the Indiana School Resource Officers Association. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Association of School Resource Officers in 2012, and after a successful election to 2nd VP in 2016, he progressed to President of that Board in 2020.

He has written numerous published articles on the roles of SROs, assisted in developing legislation for SROs in Indiana, testified to legislators in Indiana, and is quoted in the President’s Commission on School Safety.

D.J. and his wonderful family live in Carmel, IN where they enjoy the Carmel Arts District on their frequent walks together.
